通信傳輸網(wǎng)絡(luò)的世界中,核心網(wǎng)、城域網(wǎng)、移動回傳網(wǎng)、接入網(wǎng)和企業(yè)網(wǎng)絡(luò)(LAN/SAN)從上至下呈樹狀分布。每種網(wǎng)絡(luò)均設(shè)定 了各自通信所需的獨(dú)自規(guī)格。而且,伴隨近年高速通信終端及影像傳輸?shù)绕占?,骨干網(wǎng)中流過的通信量有增無減,通信的高速、大容量化進(jìn)展迅速,通信基礎(chǔ)設(shè)備亦不斷擴(kuò)充。進(jìn)行如上所示的高速數(shù)據(jù)通信的通信協(xié)議需要具備傳輸線路、系統(tǒng)以及誤碼率等性能。 誤碼率(以下簡稱為“BER”)是指進(jìn)行收發(fā)信之際,收信方接收數(shù)據(jù)中的誤碼數(shù)除以發(fā)出的數(shù)據(jù)總字節(jié)數(shù)得出的錯(cuò)誤率。尤其對 于 BER,信號所具有的噪音和抖動是非常重要的參數(shù),對信號品質(zhì)的影響極大。 本次,我們將說明基于通信設(shè)備所需的信號品質(zhì)而要求振蕩器具備的關(guān)鍵規(guī)格,并介紹市場中銷售的振蕩器結(jié)構(gòu)及特征,以及適 于通信設(shè)備的愛普生晶振產(chǎn)品。

【高速通信系統(tǒng)的構(gòu)成】 

首先,用圖 1 表示兩只收發(fā)模塊之間通過 PCI、SATA 或 10GbE 等各種通信協(xié)議傳輸數(shù)據(jù)的常用通信系統(tǒng)傳輸線路。在這樣的系 統(tǒng)中,使用振蕩器生成基準(zhǔn)信號。通常,基準(zhǔn)信號用低于數(shù)據(jù)傳輸率的頻率起振。所以,為了以基準(zhǔn)信號生成串聯(lián)數(shù)據(jù),發(fā)送方使 用收發(fā)模塊中的鎖相環(huán)電路(PLL,Phase Locked Loop)把基準(zhǔn)信號頻率倍增到需要的頻率后發(fā)送。與此相對,接收方使用收到 的數(shù)據(jù)流中內(nèi)含鎖相環(huán)電路的時(shí)鐘數(shù)據(jù)恢復(fù)(Clock Data Recovery)復(fù)原基準(zhǔn)信號,并用復(fù)原后的基準(zhǔn)信號復(fù)原數(shù)據(jù)。在部分高 端系統(tǒng)中,也采用根據(jù)接收方所持有的基準(zhǔn)信號復(fù)原數(shù)據(jù)的方式。如上所示,在收發(fā)信的過程中隨時(shí)進(jìn)行著信號的轉(zhuǎn)換與復(fù)原。在 日益高速的通信中,接收方必須正確判斷接收的數(shù)據(jù)是 0 還是 1。因此,如何抑制信號自身的抖動和噪音提高信號品質(zhì)、如何設(shè)計(jì) 最佳的傳輸線路專用集成電路是非常重要的課題。

【信號品質(zhì)評估手法】 

評估通信系統(tǒng)中信號本身的品質(zhì)時(shí),經(jīng)常使用眼圖。眼圖是使用示波器等測試儀器收集大量高速數(shù)字信號波形后重合而成的圖形, 由于波形重合后呈“眼”狀而得名。 假設(shè)傳輸線路的通信協(xié)議為 10GbE,該系統(tǒng)中傳輸 10Gbps 的信號所用時(shí)間(長度)為各字節(jié) 100 微微秒。評估信號品質(zhì)時(shí),將 每隔 100 微微秒重復(fù)出現(xiàn)的信號相重合后制成眼圖。假設(shè)基準(zhǔn)信號很純正且傳輸線路的專用集成電路設(shè)計(jì)良好,則可以獲得如圖 2 左所示的幾乎完全重合的波形。與其相反,如果基準(zhǔn)信號中噪音和抖動較多、或因?qū)S眉呻娐返脑O(shè)計(jì)而產(chǎn)生傳輸線路的頻帶不足 等損失,信號波形則會變得不穩(wěn)定,重合后的波形呈現(xiàn)圖 2 右所示的眼睛逐漸閉攏的情況。

判斷信號數(shù)據(jù)是 0 還是 1 時(shí),重要的是開眼部的長寬足夠大。 開眼部因噪音和抖動而縮小,將導(dǎo)致接收方無法準(zhǔn)確判斷信號數(shù)據(jù),BER 變高?,F(xiàn)在幾乎所有通信系統(tǒng)均要求 BER 至少應(yīng)達(dá)到 1 ×10-12。這意味著每傳輸 1012 字節(jié)的數(shù)據(jù)時(shí)允許出現(xiàn) 1 個(gè)字節(jié)的錯(cuò)誤。 綜上所述,從眼圖中可以獲得噪音、抖動或頻帶不足等有關(guān)信號品質(zhì)的各種信息。

【構(gòu)成抖動的要素】 

圖 3 表示通信系統(tǒng)中抖動的構(gòu)成要素??傮w抖動 TJ (Total Jitter)用確定性抖動 DJ(Deterministic Jitter) 與隨機(jī)抖動 RJ(Random Jitter)之和來表示。確定性 抖動表示因電路設(shè)計(jì)、電磁感應(yīng)或外界因素而產(chǎn)生的抖 動。確定性抖動的特征是頻率擴(kuò)散保持一定,且與時(shí)間 變化無關(guān)。作為基準(zhǔn)信號源的振蕩器性能中影響確定性 抖動的是失真和分諧波。

隨機(jī)抖動名副其實(shí)表示無法預(yù)測的抖動成份。它受元 器件自身的特性、熱噪音等因素的影響而自然產(chǎn)生。隨 機(jī)抖動的特征是隨時(shí)間而擴(kuò)散。作為基準(zhǔn)信號源的振蕩器性能中,影響隨機(jī)抖動的正是基準(zhǔn)信號源的抖動。 其它系統(tǒng)中的因素也被歸類為產(chǎn)生抖動的要因,例如插件的電源噪音與串?dāng)_、因電纜設(shè)計(jì)等影響而引起的頻帶不足是產(chǎn)生確定性 抖動的要因,而專用集成電路的噪音等則是產(chǎn)生隨時(shí)抖動的要因。因此,系統(tǒng)設(shè)計(jì)人員需要通過改善專用集成電路的設(shè)計(jì)、變更基 板布局以及變更部品等減小總體抖動。

【市場中銷售的振蕩器(基準(zhǔn)信號源)的結(jié)構(gòu)與特征】 

首先,讀者應(yīng)該已理解,要維持信號品質(zhì)就必須選擇噪音和抖動影響少的基準(zhǔn)信號源。在此,我們將說明現(xiàn)在市場中銷售的振蕩 器的結(jié)構(gòu)(類型)及其特征。

現(xiàn)在市場中銷售的振蕩器大致可分為 4 種類型,其結(jié)構(gòu)如圖 4 所示。 

第一種是最為常見的基波起振的振蕩器。這種振蕩器的噪音、抖動及失真特性十分優(yōu)越,能提供高精度和高性能的所有特性。它 的電路組成也相對簡單,所以能夠把耗電量控制在較小程度。 

第二種是利用三次諧波的振蕩器。諧波起振的電路設(shè)計(jì)中所采用的方法是利用濾波電路減小基波的負(fù)電阻,以所需倍數(shù)(這里是 三次)的頻率產(chǎn)生負(fù)電阻。這種方法可以獲得基波起振的情況下難以獲得的高頻輸出,并且可以保持較高的 Q 值,從而能夠獲得 良好的低接近載波相位噪音性。然而由于電路設(shè)計(jì)(調(diào)整)較為復(fù)雜,這種方法也存在著耗電量增加,以及電容比增大而使頻率可 變幅度變小的缺點(diǎn)。 

第三種是利用鎖相環(huán)電路的石英振蕩器。這種振蕩器把石英或硅諧振器作為基準(zhǔn)信號源發(fā)出輸入信號,利用鎖相環(huán)電路生成輸入信號 的同步信號,輸出必要的頻率。因此,這種方法的優(yōu)點(diǎn)在于利用鎖相環(huán)電路技術(shù)獲得任意頻率的便利性以及能夠提供高頻之處。但 是,它的電路結(jié)構(gòu)較為復(fù)雜致使耗電量增加,對噪音及抖動性能也帶來了不良影響。我們以前也曾經(jīng)介紹過,在使用硅諧振器的情 況下,由于硅諧振單元所具有的溫度特性不佳,需要補(bǔ)償?shù)臏囟确秶蠖鵁o法進(jìn)行模擬式的溫度補(bǔ)償,因此必須采用鎖相環(huán)電路 技術(shù)進(jìn)行溫度補(bǔ)償。所以,它在控制信號噪音和抖動的品質(zhì)指標(biāo)方面十分不利。 

最后是 LC 振蕩器。這種振蕩器與鎖相環(huán)電路一樣極為方便,施加功率后輸出較大的振幅,且本底噪音也較低。與此相反,由于 材料本身所具有的 Q 值較低,所以頻率穩(wěn)定度和老化特征較差,低接近載波相位噪音性也存在著問題。 

如上所示,市場中銷售的振蕩器有著不同的結(jié)構(gòu),應(yīng)當(dāng)根據(jù)用途選擇適宜的產(chǎn)品。為了回應(yīng)這些需求,愛普生向顧客提供已具備 了作為基準(zhǔn)信號源所需相位噪音特性、相位抖動和失真特性的振蕩器產(chǎn)品,以此致力于維護(hù)顧客通信系統(tǒng)的信號品質(zhì)。

【適用于通信系統(tǒng)的低相位抖動的愛普生振蕩器產(chǎn)品介紹】

 愛普生將基波振蕩器(類型 1)定為主力產(chǎn)品,已形成了具備高速通信系統(tǒng)所需抖動性能的不同的產(chǎn)品陣容。表 1 表示其中具有 代表性的產(chǎn)品。 

我們原則使用石英晶體單元作為波源。頻率不到 80MHz 的振蕩器使用 AT 型石英晶體,80MHz 以上則使用了采用反向臺形 AT 型 石英晶體的高頻基波模式(High Frequency Fundamental,HFF)技術(shù),提供 SG 系列振蕩器以及 VG 系列壓控晶體振蕩器。我們 還提供使用表面聲波(SAW)技術(shù)并具有最佳抖動性能的 EG、XG 系列 SAW 振蕩器,以及 EV 系列壓控型 SAW 振蕩器(VCSO)。 而且,我們準(zhǔn)備了 CMOS、LV-PECL、LVDS、HCSL 等各種輸出,全部產(chǎn)品均保持了石英本身所具有的出色優(yōu)點(diǎn),并擁有能夠充 分滿足各種用途的顧客要求的信號品質(zhì)的產(chǎn)品規(guī)格。
